William Frank , 48 years and more, sworn and diligently examined regarding the age of Richard Redman son and heir of Matthew Redman , swears that Richard was born at Harewood, baptised in the church there, and was aged 21 years on the feast of St Luke the Evangelist last [18 October]. He knows because William son of William died after a long illness on the day of Richard’s birth. He thus well knows that Richard is the said age. John Killyngbek , 50 years and more, married Margaret, still living. Robert Boteler , 46 years and more, knows because a great wind arose in the vill. John del Wode , 56 years and more, gave water to the godfathers and godmother for washing their hands after Richard was baptised. William Dinton , 60 years and more, held the book before the priest while Richard was baptised. John Hardy , 49 years and more, was thrown so violently to the ground by his horse that he broke his left shin. William de Westowe , 49 years and more, knows because Joan his wife gave birth to a son named Robert. Richard Weton , 51 years and more, carried a basin and ewer to the church before Richard on the way to his baptism. Thomas Warde , 60 years and more, carried two silver platters to the church, holding gold and silver for throwing to bystanders when Richard was baptised. Alexander West , 46 years and more, carried two silver pots to the church, full of red wine for refreshing the godfathers, godmother, and other bystanders at the baptism. John Rede , 51 years, knows because Richard Arthyngton , godfather, gave £6 to John Rede on the day of the baptism. Thomas Johnson , 43 years and more, fetched Margaret Vskylf on the day of the baptism. She was to be Richard’s wet-nurse.
