John Barnard , 60 years and more, sworn and diligently examined regarding the age of Isabel, swears that she was born at Haresfield, baptised in the parish church there, and was aged 14 years on the feast of St Hypolitus last [13 August]. He well knows this because he was at Haresfield when Alice, mother of Isabel, was in labour and he heard her crying. Before he withdrew, she gave birth and he saw the messengers sent to seek the godfather(s) and godmother(s). Immediately afterwards on the same day, Isabel was baptised, just as he heard from many. He thus well recollects that Isabel was the said age on that feast. Roger Foster , 43 years and more, knows because Joan, his kin, came from Haresfield within three days of Isabel’s birth, and said that Isabel was born and baptised. John Whyte , 46 years and more, rode with Hugh, then prior of Deerhurst , godfather of Isabel, and saw when he raised her from the font. John Dalamar , 48 years and more, came to Haresfield on that day, to the house of Edward Brugge , Isabel’s father, and saw her in the hands of Joan her nurse. John Sandy , 66 years and more, knows because Hugh, then prior of Deerhurst , godfather of Isabel and travelling to baptise her, came by John at Trenley , where he was staying, and took the road to Haresfield. He related that he was going to make Isabel into a Christian there. William Sandy , 50 years and more, was with John Sandy at Trenley and heard everything said by Hugh, then prior of Deerhurst , to John. John Estyngton , 44 years and more, was servant of Edward Brugge , Isabel’s father, and rode on his business to Gloucester. Richard Holschyp , 49 years and more, saw when Isabel Paunesfote raised Isabel Brugge from the font. John Chamberleyn , 53 years and more, married Joan his wife in the parish church. John Downe , 49 years and more, knows because his cookhouse collapsed that day. John Walton , 50 years and more, knows because such a huge storm of wind arose in Haresfield that several men of the vill sustained great damage in the collapse of their trees and houses. Guy Spenser , 56 years and more, knows because the Tewkesbury fairs (nundine et ferie) were held on that day.
