Richard Rede was lately seised of the following manors in demesne as of fee, which, by a charter of his dated on 19 January 1431, shown to the jurors, by the name Richard Rede of Ireland, he gave to John Rede his son and heir apparent, then a minor, and John, lately parson of the church of Little Hallingbury, now deceased, and William Wetnale , citizen and grocer of London, still living, and their heirs and assigns. Owing to the death of Richard, the minority of John, and the alienation made to John while then a minor, the manors came into the king’s hand, where they remain.
Wallbury, the manor, held of the king in chief by knight service. There is a manorial site with houses, worth nothing yearly; 120 1/2 a. arable, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 10 a. pasture, each acre worth 3d. yearly; 16 a. meadow, each acre worth 16d. yearly; 40 a. wood, worth nothing beyond enclosure; 43s. 2d. assize rent from tenants, payable at Easter and Michaelmas equally; and 2 fulling-mills, greatly run-down, worth nothing yearly.
Hassenbrook, the manor, held of the king in chief by knight service. There is a manorial site with houses, worth nothing yearly; 100 a. arable, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 160 a. pasture, each acre worth 3d. yearly; 6 a. meadow, each acre worth 12d. yearly; 40s. assize rent from tenants, payable as above; and view of frankpledge, held once a year, worth nothing beyond the steward’s fee and expenses.
Vange, the manor, held of the king in chief by knight service. There is an empty messuage, worth nothing yearly; 140 a. arable, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 30 a. pasture, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 8 a. marsh, each acre worth 12d. yearly; and 26s. 8d. assize rent from tenants, payable as above.

John, son of Richard Rede , died on 23 August last. Robert Rede is his kin and next heir, viz., son of Philip Rede , brother of Richard Rede , John’s father, and is aged 30 years and more.
