He did not hold any lands or tenements of the king in chief or of any other in demesne or in service. Walter, lately Lord Fitzwalter, knight , was formerly seised of the manors of Woodham Walter, Ulting, Burnham, Little Henham and Lexden in demesne as of fee and, by a charter of his, shown to the jurors, dated at Woodham Walter on 12 July 1425, by the name Walter, Lord Fitzwalter and of Woodham Walter, and lord of Haye-du-puits and la Roche-Tesson in Normandy, he gave these manors to Lewis John , Richard Baynard , John Tyrell , Robert Darcy , Richard Fox , William Neulond , Robert Molynton , William Faukeswell and Richard Durywall and their heirs, and by virtue of this enfeoffment they were seised in demesne as of fee. William Neulond afterwards died, and Lewis, Robert Darcy , Richard Baynard , Richard Fox , Richard Durywall and William Faukeswell , by a deed of theirs, shown to the jurors, released all their right and claim to the manor of Woodham Walter to John Tyrell and Robert Molynton and their heirs and assigns, for which the king’s licence was obtained [compare CPR 1429–36, pp. 209–11]. John Tyrell and Robert Molynton , by an indented charter of theirs dated at Woodham Walter on 12 January 1431, demised the following to Walter Asshe for life, for good service past and future to Walter Fitz Walter and Elizabeth his wife.
