He held the
1/2 manor of Staveley in his demesne as of fee of ‪ Henry V in chief by service of 1/2 of 1/3 of 1/3 of 1/2 of 3 parts of 1/4 of 1/2 barony. In the moiety there is a messuage and 200 a. land, worth 40s. yearly; a messuage and 60 a. land in the hamlet of Sadgill, worth 13s. 4d. yearly; 3 messuages and 160 a. land in the hamlet of Grasmere, worth 40s. yearly; 2 messuages and 40 a. land in the hamlets of Hugill and Reston, worth 4 marks yearly; and 3 messuages and 100 a. land in the hamlets of Skelsmergh and Langdale, worth 2 marks yearly.

He died on 4 October 1418.n088 John Hothom is his son and next heir, aged 22 years and more.

Addressed to the chancellor of the palatine of Lancaster who is ordered to order the escheator, with the king’s writ under the seal of the duchy of Lancaster, to hold the inquisition and return it to the English Chancery. Regarding lands held of ‪ Henry V .

The moiety was formerly 1/6 of 1/4 manor of Kendal in Westmorland and was assigned to John de Hothome, chevalier , his father, as his share of the manor of Kendal. The moiety is held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 of 1/3 of 1/3 of 1/2 of 3 parts of 1/4 of 1/2 barony.
Warton, the advowson of the parish church, every third presentation in turn with Roger Pedwardyne, chevalier , his parcener. The church is extended at 20 marks.
Cockersand, the advowson of 1/4 abbey, the temporalities extended at £20 yearly when vacant.
Cockersand, the homage and services of the heirs of William Kendale , who hold a tenement there, and 3s. 4d. rent.
Asthwaite and elsewhere, the homage and services of Thomas Cayrours who holds tenements there, and 4s. 4d. rent.
Bigthwaite, the homage and services of heirs who hold tenements, and 20d. rent from 1 a. land called ‘Salteracre’ lately in the tenure of William, son of Thomas, worth 8d..

He died on 3 October 1419.n089 John Hothom is his son and next heir, aged 21 years last Easter.

Thomas Santon and William Cawthorn occupied the holding by letters patent of ‪ Henry V [CFR 1413–22, p. 325], and took the issues and profits from his death until the day of this inquisition and are committed to the proper use.
