Holdings
He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief or of any other in demesne as of fee, in reversion, or in service. Long before his death, one William Kylmyngton was seised of the following in demesne as of fee. By indented charter, shown to the jurors, he granted the manors to Nicholas Chivall – described as Nicholas Chivall , citizen and ‘vestement maker’ of London - and the heirs of his body. Nicholas was seised in demesne as of fee tail. He had issue: Walter, named in the writ; Joan, now the wife of Edmund Wykes, esquire ; and Alice, now the wife of Thomas Walssh, esquire , and died seised of such estate. After his death, Walter entered the manors as son and heir by virtue of the grant. He died seised of such estate and not of any other. After his death, Joan and Alice entered as sisters and heirs by virtue of the grant.Thomas Walsh of Hertford, gentleman (gent’), and Edmund Wykes of Nackington in Kent, esquire, received the issues of the manor of Blackmore from the day of his death, and still receive them.
