Holdings

Long before his death he was seised of the following in demesne as of fee. Thus seised he granted the manor of Wenden Magna to Henry Langley , George Langham , John Basset , and Ralph Grey , esquires, Thomas Faireclough and Nicholas Stile , clerks, Nicholas Pirke of Saffron Walden, and Henry Balsham , and their heirs and assigns, so that they were seised in demesne as of fee. The charter was shown to the jurors. Because of this enfeoffment all the tenants of the manor attorned themselves to the grantees and each swore to be attendant to them. He granted the manor of Wenden Parva and the advowson, by charter shown to the jurors, to the said Henry Langley , George, John Basset , and Nicholas Stile , and Robert Aldebury and John Jakelyn , who all survive, and Nicholas Berners and William Higham , deceased, and their heirs and assigns, so that they were seised in demesne as of fee. Because of this enfeoffment all the tenants of the manor attorned themselves to the grantees and each swore to be attendant to them.

Wenden Magna, the manor, true annual value 40 marks, held of John, earl of Oxford , service unknown.
Wenden Parva, the manor, with the appurtenant advowson of the church, true annual value 100s., held of Richard Skilfull and Joan his wife, in right of Joan, of her manor of ‘Geddynges’ in Clavering, by rent of 10s.

He died on 15 April last. Thomas Cavendyssh is his next heir, aged 40 and more.
