They were thus seised in demesne as of fee and, thus seised, by charter dated at Shirland on 10 July last, shown to the jurors, they demised the manor, among other things, to Richard Grey, knight , described as Richard Grey, lord of Wilton , and Margaret his wife, and the heirs of their bodies.n483 They were thus seised in demesne as of fee tail, and Richard died seised of this estate.n484 Margaret is yet so seised by right of survivorship.

By charter and with royal licence, shown to the jurors [CPR 1436–41, p. 553], he granted the manors and advowson to Ralph Cromwell, knight , William Boerley , Robert Darcy , John Throgmerton , John Wynnesbury , and William Laken , and their heirs and assigns.n492 The grant was made on condition that when Richard or his heirs pay William Boerley, or his executors and administrators at one and the same time 1000 marks of good and legal English money at Ludlow in Shropshire, Richard and his heirs may enter the manors and advowson and have them once again.n493 Neither the 1000 marks, nor any parcel thereof, has been paid by Richard during his life, or by his heirs after his death, to William Boerley, still living.
