WILLIAM CALDECOTE

Holdings

Owing to the death of Thomas Caldecote and the minority of William, his son and heir who was a minor in the wardship of the king, the following came to the king’s hand, and is still there.

Caldecote, the manor, held of the king in chief by suit at the king’s tourn of the hundred of Seckloe at two terms of the year, viz., Easter and Michaelmas, and paying 22s. petty serjeanty at Martinmas. In the manor, there are 100 a. land, each acre worth 3d. yearly; 5 a. meadow, each acre worth 2s. 4d. yearly; and the manorial site, worth nothing yearly.
Newport Pagnell, 2 virgates of land, each worth 5s. yearly, held of James Ormond, knight , by fealty and service of paying 1 1/2d. at Christmas for all services.
Calverton, a virgate of land, worth 10s. yearly, and 2s. assize rent from free tenants, held in socage of John de Veer, earl of Oxford , by fealty and service of rendering 5d. yearly at Easter and Michaelmas for all services.

He died on 5 September last. Margaret, wife of Thomas Hanchech , is his kin and next heir and aged 25 and more.
