The jurors were examined separately on the age of William. They say that he was born at Caron in the March of Wales, baptised in the church there on 3 January 5 Henry V [1418], and is 22 and more. Asked how they know, they all say that they were in the church at the time of the baptism and saw William raised from the font. They also give the following reasons. John Britte , 46 years, had a son named John, born on the same day and baptised in the same church. Philip Mortymer and Richard Smythes , each 54 years, were godfathers to a certain son of Richard Jenauns , named Richard, who was baptised on the same day. James Thomkyns , 50 years, had a daughter named Margaret, buried at the same church on the same day. John Bailly of Ocle Pychard or Lyvers Ocle (Ocle), 57 years, had a servant named Henry, who died and was buried in the cemetery of the same church on that day. John Mataston and John Page , each 49 years, had a kinsman named Thomas who had received the sacred order of the priesthood, and who celebrated his first mass in the church on the day that William was born. Richard Bernes and John Carles of Tarrington, each 54 years, were godfathers to a certain son of Ralph Frewen , named John, who was baptised on the same day. John Clerkys , Thomas Nayssh , and John Knyle , each 44 years, say that a candlestick fell on their heads when they were in the church at the time of the baptism.
