Holdings

Henry Wylford , named in one of the writs, held 1/5 manor of Steeple Barton, of the king in chief, annual value 100s. jointly with William Selman and William Slyngesby , both still living, by grant of John Aston , without royal licence, to them and to John Neyland , now deceased, and to their heirs. At the time of the grant, John Aston was jointly seised of the whole manor with William Cheyne , John Frank, clerk , John Mulso , and Geoffrey Motte, clerk , by enfeoffment of Thomas Seyntcler , to them and to William Halle and John Halle , who both died before John Aston ’s grant to Henry Wylford and the others. Henry died on 10 May 1438. Identity of his next heir, unknown. John Frank, clerk , named in the other writ, held the rest of the same manor jointly with William Cheyne and Geoffrey Motte, clerk , both still living, by grant of Thomas Seyntcler, esquire , now deceased, who enfeoffed William and Geoffrey, and John Frank, clerk , William Halle , John Halle , and John Mulso , these now deceased, and John Aston , with the whole manor. After the death of William Halle and John Halle , John Aston granted 1/5 manor to William Selman and William Slyngesby , both still living, and John Neyland and Henry Wylford , now deceased.
