A fine was levied at Westminster on the morrow of Martinmas 1432 [CP 25/1/39/45, no. 26], before William Babyngton, John Martyn, John Juyn, James Strangways, John Cottesmore, and William Paston, between Richard Byngham and John Manchastre, querents, and John Cokayn, knight, and Isabel his wife, deforciants, regarding the following manors and mill. John Cokayn recognised them to be the right of John Manchastre, as those held by John and Richard, and the heirs of John, by grant of John Cokayn. John and Richard then granted them to John Cokayn and Isabel, and to the heirs of their bodies together, with successive remainders to Richard Vernon, knight, and the heirs male of his body; and to the right heirs of John Cokayn.
