JOAN WHO WAS WIFE OF JOHN CHETEWYND

Regarding lands and tenements held by knight service of the heir of John, earl of Arundel , a minor in the king’s wardship [CFR 1437–45, p. 2].

Holdings
She held the following manor by enfeoffment of Hugh Harnage , Hugh Cresset , Richard Ouerton , and John Wyrlesby to her and John Botrell , lately her husband, now deceased, and to the heirs male of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of John Botrell .
Aston Botterell, the manor, annual value £8, held by Joan of the heir of John, earl of Arundel , named in the writ, by knight service.
John Botrell and Joan had issue: John Botrell , and John, father, afterwards died. Joan then died and the manor descended to John as son and heir male of John and Joan. Humphrey, heir of the earl of Arundel , was a minor in the wardship of the king at the time of Joan’s death.

She died on 29 January last. John Botrell son of John Botrell and Joan is her next heir male, and was aged 17 years and more on Candlemas last.
