This grant was made with the king’s licence [CPR 1413–16, p. 60].
Fenton, £4 6s. rent, with the attornments, homages and services of the tenants paying this rent, viz., John Germayn , Roger Fenton, junior , Richard Germayn , John Bron , Roger de Fenton, senior , Thomas le ...sonesman [ms damaged]; William le Smyth , Benedict Willeson and Thomas del Bothes , held, with the manor of Bucknall [below], of the king in chief as 1/20 knight’s fee.
Bucknall, the manor, held, with the above rent, of the king in chief as 1/20 knight’s fee.. There is a site, worth nothing yearly; 200 a. land, true annual value of each acre 1 1/2d.; 2 messuages, held at will, the true annual value of one messuage, 6s. 8d., and of the other messuage 3s. 4d.; and a watermill, worth nothing yearly.
She held the following by grant of William Lee , Hugh Colclogh and Thomas Hunte to John, son of John Delves , for 15 years beginning from 22 February 1413, with successive remainders to Thomas, son of John, son of John Delves and Anne his wife, and the heirs male of their bodies, the heirs of the body of Thomas, son of John, and the right heirs of John Delves .
Hilderstone, 25s. 8d. rent, with the attornment and services of the tenants paying this rent, viz., John le Hare , Joan Batkyn , Richard de Wythenale , John, son of William Jakson , Roger le Warde and William Herbert ; 36s. 8d. rent from a place there called ‘Halleplace’, which has been in the possession of Richard Fyton , who holds it for life, for a year, with reversion of the same place after his death; 4 messuages, true annual value of each 2s.; and 200 a. land, true annual value of each acre 2d., held of Humphrey, earl of Stafford , service unknown.
Newcastle under Lyme, 2s. 10d. rent with the attornment and services of the tenants paying this rent, viz., John Swanylee and John Prestbury , with certain parcels of land and burgage there, true annual value 12d., held of the king as of his duchy of Lancaster as of his manor of Newcastle under Lyme in socage.
Dimsdale, 23s. 4d. rent, with the attornment and services of the tenants paying this rent, viz., Sibyl Brette , Thomas Brette , William Dymmysdale and Thomas Bromley , and 3 bovates of land lying in Hamstall Ridware and ‘Parrokes’ in the same vill, containing 10 a. of land, true annual value of each acre 4d., held of the king as of his duchy of Lancaster as of his manor of Newcastle under Lyme in socage.
Whitmore, 26s. rent from Ralph Egerton and William Lee as of their manor of Knutton, with the attornment and services of the tenants paying this rent, viz., Elizabeth de Boghey , Stephen Whichyll , John Wode and Richard Wele , service unknown.
Hanford, 2s. 6d. rent from the same Ralph and William as of their manor of Knutton, with the attornment and services of the tenants paying this rent, viz., Margery Lagowe , William Blakelowe and Felice Bron , service unknown.
She died on 5 October 1436. John Delves is likewise dead. All lands, tenements, rents, services and the said manor now should remain to Richard, son of John Delves , as son and heir of John Delves , according to the form of the grants, because Thomas, son of John, and Anne died without an heir of their bodies, and Thomas without an heir of his body. Richard was aged 22 years and more on 19 May last.
