Agnes who was the wife of John Bate , deceased, and afterwards wife of William Gregory of Hanthorpe, held the following lands, etc., for life, reversion to Elizabeth, daughter of Robert Bate and wife of John Hawkesworth , as follows. John Bate , brother of Elizabeth, whose heir she is, was seised of the said lands, etc., in demesne as of fee and, by licence of ‪ Richard II for those tenements held of the king in chief [CPR 1385– 89, p. 54], enfeoffed John Thornton and John Moy, chaplain , with the lands, etc., in fee simple. They, having full possession, re-enfeoffed John Bate and Agnes then his wife and the heirs of their bodies, remainder wholly to Elizabeth and the heirs of her body. After this enfeoffment, John Bate died in this estate, and Agnes continued to hold the lands, etc., in this estate for forty years and more until her death. Because John Bate and Agnes died without an heir of their bodies, now the lands, etc., belong to Elizabeth and the heirs of her body, by virtue of the said enfeoffment. Haconby, a messuage, 45 a. land and 8 a. meadow. Of this,
the messuage, 22 a. land and 3 a. meadow, annual value 6s. 8d. and no more because of the waste and destruction done by William Gregory during the lifetime of Agnes lately his wife, held of the king in chief as 1/10 knight’s fee

.
The other acre of land, annual value 2d., held of the abbot of Vaudey for 1 1/2d. rent yearly.
