Holdings
He was a minor in the king’s wardship and held the following in demesne as of fee which came into the king’s hand owing to the death of John Clement and the minority of Philip, and it remains in the king’s hand.
Yazor, 1/2 manor, held of John Merbury, esquire , as of his manor of Weobley, by knight service. There are 40 a. arable, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 60 a. pasture, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 5 a. meadow, each acre worth 8d. yearly; and 6s. 8d. assize rent from free tenants, payable at Easter and Michaelmas equally.
Pennardd, in the March of Wales adjacent to Herefordshire, the commote, held of the king in chief as of his principality of Wales by knight service. There is a capital messuage, worth nothing yearly because ruinous; the vill of Caron, in which are 10 a. arable, each acre worth 12d. yearly; a watermill in the same vill, worth 16s. 8d. yearly; 8 a. meadow in the same vill, each acre worth 5d.; 2 once-yearly fairs (nundine) in the same vill, each worth 5s. yearly in tolls and other profits; 73s. 4d. assize rent from free tenants in the vill, payable as above; a watermill outside the vill, worth 20s. yearly; 100 a. wood outside the vill, worth nothing yearly beyond the sustenance of the beasts and its custody; a court, worth 40s. yearly; and 20 marks 3s. assize rent from free tenants outside the vill, payable as above.
Genau’r-glyn, in the March of Wales adjacent to Herefordshire, 1/2 commote, held of the king in chief of his principality of Wales by knight service. There is a watermill, worth 16s. 8d. yearly; 200 a. wood, worth nothing beyond its custody; £10 10s. assize rent from free tenants, payable as above; and a court, worth 20s. yearly.

He died on 7 January last. William Clement , his brother and next heir, was aged 18 years at Christmas last.

From the time of Philip’s death, Edmund Bauford, count of Mortain , and Griffin ap Nicholas, esquire , occupied and took the profits from the commote of Pennardd and the 1/2 commote of Genau’r-glyn, and they still do so, by virtue of letters patent of the king under the seal of his chancery of Carmarthen.
