JOHN KEUERMOND

Writ Head

435 Writ. ‡ 28 December 1435. [Wymbyssh].

[Dorse:] I, John Selby , certify that John Keuermond did not hold lands which could be taken into the king’s hand, but, by virtue of this writ, I took into the king’s hand the office of usher of the Exchequer with other offices belonging to it specified in the attached inquisition.

He did not hold lands in demesne as of fee, but he held the following office in demesne as of fee, of which he died seised:
the office of usher of the Exchequer, with 5d. daily in the Exchequer’s receipt each day the Exchequer is open for this office, with various other offices belonging to it, viz., the office of usher and crier in the Common Bench, marshal, usher, crier and bar-keeper in each itineration of the itinerant justices in England, true annual value 25 marks, held of the king in chief by grand serjeanty.

He died on 16 December last. Agnes, wife of Thomas Billesby , his daughter and next heir, is aged 32 years and more.

He and Maud his wife were seised of the following 1/2 manors for life by demise of Ralph Crumwell and John Fulnetby , reversion to Ralph and John and the heirs of Ralph. The king’s licence was obtained for this demise for those 1/2 manors held of the king in chief.
Billinghay, 1/2 manor with appurtenances in Walcot, annual value 13s. 4d., the manor held of the king in chief as 1/100 knight’s fee.
