Thomas Olyvere , 54 years, swears that John, son of Joan, was born at Gayhurst and baptised in the church of the same vill on 8 May 1413 because Thomas was then seised in his demesne as of fee of a messuage in Gayhurst. John More held the messuage at will of Thomas and, on that 8 May , the hall of the messuage, with its stable at the end of the hall, collapsed. John More then had 2 horses and 2 cows in the stable, and they were killed. On 8 May last, 21 years had passed since the building fell to the ground and he thus well recollects that John, son of Joan, is 21 years of age, and more. Nicholas Bradewell , 46 years, swears that he was at Gayhurst on 14 May 1413. There was a great bear-baiting, and one of the bears broke the left shin of Richard Mede , then Nicholas’ servant. It was commonly said that John, son of Joan, was born and baptised on that day. Thomas Maudeleyn , 51 years, swears that he was at Gayhurst on 8 May 1413. He bought a messuage in Gayhurst from Richard Frende and, on the same day, when seisin was delivered, it was said that John, son of Joan, was born and baptised there. Nicholas Hobbesson , 52 years, swears that he bought 20 quarters of malt for 100s. from Robert Nevylle , father of John, on 8 May 1413. On the same day, he loaded 10 horses with 10 quarters of the malt and, while returning to his house at Lathbury, two of the horses collapsed and suddenly died. Henry Dykon , 42 years, swears that he took the manor of Little Linford to farm on 29 September 1412. On 8 May 1413, there was a great flood in the stream crossing beneath Linford and, caught in the flood, were forty of his sheep (oves), drowned. They were carried by the water to Gayhurst mill and there were pulled out. It was said there that John, son of Joan, had been born and baptised that day. Robert Levenoth , 48 years, swears that he met John Proudefot on 8 May 1413, driving 40 sheep (oves). Twelve drowned as he drove them beyond the bridge by the mill of Gayhurst to Newport Pagnell, and Joan, son of Joan, was born and baptised on the same day. Simon Levenoth , 50 years, swears that such a wind blew up on 8 May 1413 that Richard Ace was blown from the bridge of Sherington into the water where he drowned. It was said, when the coroner viewed the body on the same day, that John, son of Joan, had been born and baptised that day. John Proudefot , 49 years, swears Agnes his daughter was confirmed by the suffragen at Gayhurst on 8 May 1413, and it was said there that John, son of Joan, had been born, baptised, and confirmed that day. Richard Arnecok , 48 years, was at London before 8 May 1413, and wanted to pass through Gayhurst to speak with Robert Nevylle , father of John, son of Joan. On 8 May, coming out of Gayhurst water, his horse staggered and fell, and he almost drowned. Peter Stratton , 50 years, swears that he was at Gayhurst on 9 May 1413, to communicate with John Janyn , and hue was raised for Richard Grynston’s smelt- house. Running to help extinguish the fire, he fell onto a stone and broke his left shin. John, son of Joan, had been born and baptised the previous day. William Parke of Tickford, 49 years, swears that he was at Gayhurst park with his cart on 8 May 1413, and there he loaded the cart with timber. When he reached the end of the vill of Gayhurst, the cart collapsed and two of his horses, pulling it, were killed. Thomas Hobbesson, senior , 57 years, swears that he pursued John Mone , who committed a felony at Little Linford, from Linford to Gayhurst on 8 May 1413. He fell and broke 3 ribs on his right side while pursuing him, and John was outlawed in Gayhurst churchyard.
