Holdings

Henry, vicar of Newton by Castle Acre church , and Roger le Barker of Newton by Castle Acre, chaplain, were seised of

the manor of Newton by Castle Acre in their demesne as of fee. The manor is held of Anne, countess of Stafford , of her honour of Aumale in socage by service of a pair of gilt spurs worth 6d. or 6d. rent at Midsummer for all service, annual value 40s. At her death the honour was in the hand of ‪ Henry IV .
They granted the manor to Nicholas le Leche and the legitimate heirs of his body.Nicholas was seised in his demesne as of fee according to the form of the grant and had issue William and Katherine. Nicholas was also seised in his demesne as of fee of
a tenement in Oulton, held of William, earl of Suffolk , by service of 6d. at Michaelmas for all service,
and
a tenement in Cawston, held of the same earl of Suffolk in socage by service of fealty and 8s. rent at Michaelmas.
. Annual value of the tenements 20s. After his death the manor and tenements descended to William as his son and heir, who was seised of the manor in his demesne as of fee, and of the tenements in his demesne as of fee. He married Katherine and they had issue Robert and Sybil, named in the writ. Katherine died and after her death Agnes Childe had issue Johnn019 and Alice by William, bastards because marriage banns were never read for William and Agnes. William died and the manor and tenements descended to Robert as his son and heir, who was seised of the manor in his demesne as of fee tail, and of the tenements in his demesne as of fee. After his death the manor and tenements descended to Sybil as his sister and heir. She was seised similarly.

She died on Monday 28 August 1400.n020 Simon Wysbeche is her kinsman and next heir as son of Katherine, daughter of Nicholas and sister of William, father of Sybil; and is aged 33 years and more.

Stephen Bacon , lately of Oulton, esquire, and Agnes his wife, Thomas Canon and John Canon and Alice his wife have taken all issues from the manor and tenements since her death and do so still.
