WILLIAM BROTHER OF JOHN KIRKHAM

Regarding lands and tenements held for life from the inheritance of William by Isabel widow of John Kirkham, of the bishopric of Exeter, lately sede vacante and its temporalities in the hands of Henry V. The lands and tenements were granted to John and Isabel, and to the heirs of John, by William Hankeford, knight , and others.

Holdings

The following came to the hands of ‪ Henry V and is still in the king’s hands owing to the death of Isabel and the minority of William brother and heir of John.

Blagdon, Yalberton, and Collaton St Mary, seven messuages and a grange, worth nothing yearly; a garden, worth 20d. yearly; a dovecot, worth 8d. yearly; 5 carucates of land, demised and held at will, rendering £4 6s. 8d. at the four terms of the year by equal parts; 4 a. meadow, worth 8s. yearly; 100 a. furze and heath, worth 13s. 4d. yearly; and 60s. rent, payable as above and delivered by tenants-at-will, held of Edmund, bishop of Exeter, as of the bishopric, by knight service.

He died on 24 June 1420. Robert Kirkham , his brother and next heir, was aged 21 and more on 9 August last.
