Regarding his inheritance as son of William who held of ‪ Henry V in chief. The lands and tenements are now in the custody of Nicholas Carreu by commission of Henry VI [CFR 1422–1430, p. 33]. Inform Nicholas of the forthcoming proof of age.

John Skyllyng , aged 44 and more, swears that he was aged 21 on 1 February last, born at Mersshe on the Isle of Wight, and baptised in the church there, in the baptistery, on 1 February 1407. The godfathers were William Glover and Nicholas Pakke , and the godmother was Christine wife of William atte Flete . Isabel Harper was midwife, and she brought a comb for William as soon as she saw him born because he had a hairy head. John saw and heard this. Richard Inkepenne , 59 and more, was riding his horse at Mersshe on 1 February 1407. It threw him to the ground and his left shin was broken. John Fauconer , 53 and more, says that Richard Fauconer his father died and was buried in the churchyard of the same church. John Cubbell , 54 and more, was present when Richard Clerk, chaplain , celebrated his first mass in the same church. John Frilond , 56 and more, says that his grange at Mersshe was demolished by a storm. William Burton , 49 and more, was present when Isabel his daughter espoused John Swyne in the same church. Edward Harryes , 63 and more, says that James Funtans killed William Mulle at Mersshe , with a sword drawn in his presence. John Hanyngton , 60 and more, apprenticed his son John to John Wellys in Gloucester to learn the art of dressing leather. Robert Budell , 61 and more, says that Margaret his wife died and was buried in the same church. On 31 January last, 21 years had passed since this happened. John Russell , 43 and more, says that Nicholas his son was born of Joan his wife. William Mathew , 46 and more, saw William Budde fall from a cart and break his right arm. Thomas Dunster , 58 and more, saw John Aas ’s grange suddenly catch fire when John was bedridden by illness at his house in Mersshe .
