JOHN SON OF WILLIAM HOLEBEME AND JOAN

Regarding his inheritance as son of Joan one of the daughters of Robert Scobehulle and thus kin and one of the heirs of Robert. The lands and tenements are in the custody of Nicholas Speccote by commission of Henry V. Inform Nicholas of the forthcoming proof of age.

Robert Lytelton , 60, says that he was born at Holbeam and baptised in the parish church of East Ogwell on 30 November 1407. He buried William his son on the same day, and saw John raised from the font. He thus knows that John is aged 21 and more. Henry Merewode , 55, was in the church and saw him raised from the font. Henry’s son Geoffrey was also born on that day and baptised in the same church. William Werthe , 58, was in the church and saw him raised from the font. Going home, he slid on ice and broke his left shin. William Bycote , 56, enfeoffed Thomas Buttukkyssyde with an acre of land in Ipplepen by indented charter on the same day. One part of the charter is still with William and he knows by its date. John Frankecheyne , 52, saw the baptism. Katherine his wife died and was buried in the churchyard of the same church. John Stapulhill , 53 and more, was in the church. He was making an offering for the soul of Katherine, and saw John raised from the font. Ellis Beare , 59, was in the church on 30 November and saw John raised from the font. He was standing as godfather to Ellis son of Robert Alkok who was baptised in the same church. William Gonston , 60, was in the church during the baptism. He had a son called Richard who became a priest and celebrated his first mass there. John Norys , 49, was in the church during the baptism and saw John raised from the font. He was making an offering for the soul of Katherine who was buried there. John Clement , 57, was in the church during the baptism. After the baptism, he gave the abbot of Torre warm water in a silver basin for his hands. The abbot was John’s godfather. Robert Babbecombe , 48, was in the church and saw John, abbot of Torre , give 40s. to John. Thomas Horewylle , 50, held a candle while John was baptised.
