THOMAS SON OF WILLIAM GAMAGE, CHEVALIER

Regarding his inheritance as son of William who held of ‪ Henry V in chief. The lands and tenements are in the custody of Richard, earl of Warwick , and Isabel his wife, who is executor to Richard Beauchamp, late earl of Worcester . The lands and tenements are also in the custody of Robert Andrew and John Laurence , Isabel’s co-executors. Henry V gave custody to the late earl by letters patent [CPR 1416–1422, p. 400]. Inform the earl of Warwick and the executors of the forthcoming proof of age.

John Kemeys, esquire , 57 and more, swears that he was born at Rogiet, baptised in the church there, and was aged 21 and more on 2 November last. His father had a son called William who was born and baptised on the day of Thomas’s baptism. John Gerald, esquire , 60 and more, saw Lettice wife of Gilbert Gamage give a gilt goblet with cover to Thomas soon after he was baptised, and 20s. to Thomas’s nurse. Walter Toky, esquire , 70 and more, buried Katherine his daughter on 31 October. Robert Wynnesbury, esquire , 53 and more, was in service to Gilbert Gamage , Thomas’s grandfather, and rode with him from Llanfihangel Rogiet to Rogiet church. John Basset, esquire , 70 and more, gave water for Thomas’s godfathers and godmother to wash their hands after he was raised from the font. John Burnell , 50 and more, gave a silver bell to Thomas, and 6s. 8d. to his nurse. John Thame , 72 and more, says that Robert his son died of plague. William Dovell , 50 and more, says that Sibyl his daughter was espoused to John Rokwode . Richard Botiller , 60 and more, was butler to William Gamage, chevalier , Thomas’s father, and present in the church. Nicholas Kynyet , 66 and more, rode with John Pauncefot, knight , to Rogiet church. John Andrew, mercer , 72 and more, was taken by Welsh rebels at Cat’s Ash near Rogiet, and plundered of all his belongings. Walter Richeman , 54 and more, was in the church when Thomas was baptised, and drank clary and malmesy with the godfathers and godmother. All rejoiced at the birth of Thomas.
