He held the following in demesne as of fee by enfeoffment of Thomas Ponynges, Lord St John, knight , and father of Hugh who was his heir. Hugh permitted Thomas to occupy the following and take the issues for life at will.
Halnaker, the manor with advowson of the free chapel there, and of Boxgrove Priory, pertaining to the same manor, held of the king by knight service as of the honour of Wallingford. There is a capital messuage, worth nothing yearly; 20 messuages, worth 40s. yearly; 4 carucates of land, each carucate worth 10s. yearly; two enclosed parks with game-animals, worth nothing yearly above maintaining the animals; 20 a. wood, worth nothing yearly; and 100 a. pasture, each acre worth 1d. yearly.
Walberton, the manor, held of the king by knight service as of the honour of Wallingford. There is a capital messuage, worth nothing yearly; 24 messuages, worth 44s. yearly; 4 carucates of land, each carucate worth 10s. yearly; 10 a. ?meadow, each acre worth 12d. yearly; 10 a. wood, worth nothing yearly; and 100 a. pasture, each acre worth ?1d. yearly.
He died on 26 December 1426. Constance wife of John Paulet , Alice wife of John Orell , and John Bonevile are his next heirs. Constance and Alice are his daughters, and John Bonevile is son of Joan daughter of Hugh. Constance is aged 20 and more, Alice is aged 17 and more, and John Bonevile is aged 16 and more.
Thomas his father occupied the manors and took the issues from the time of Hugh’s death until 7 March last when he died. Maud widow of Thomas then entered and occupied them, and is taking the issues, title unknown.
