the manor called ‘Hanyngfeldesmaner’ in the vills of East Hanningfield, West Hanningfield, South Hanningfield, Woodham Ferrers and Sandon
, jointly with John Terell , William Totham , Robert Darcy , Thomas Rolff , Robert Pannan and Laurence Gilberd , who survive. They lately had the manor together with Robert Teye , Thomas Cays and Matthew Londoneys , now all deceased, by enfeoffment of John Bode and Robert Dunmowe , to themselves and their heirs, the manor described as all land, tenements, meadow, wood, pasture, rents and services of both free and villein tenants, called ‘Hanyngfeldesmaner’ in the vills as above, as is clear fully in a charter dated at East Hanningfield, 2 September 1407 and shown to the jurors.
The manor is worth 20 marks yearly and held of Walter Lord Fitzwauter , service unknown.
He held the following in his demesne as of fee.
Mayland in Dengie hundred, 4 messuages, 40 a. land, 10 a. meadow, 20 a. pasture and 20 a. marsh called Bovills, and
Southminster, Great Clacton and Little Clacton, a messuage and 40 a. land
, jointly with William Totham and Thomas Weresley, vicar of Canewdon church, who survive. They lately had these together with Robert Tye and John Baryngton of Rayleigh, both deceased, by enfeoffment of Eleanor who was the wife of Geoffrey Darsham , to themselves and their heirs, the tenements described as all messuages, land, tenements, marsh, rents and services called Bovills as above, which Eleanor lately had by demise of Richard Waltham and John Conyn , with the other lands, tenements, rents and services in Southminster, Great Clacton and Little Clacton, as is clear in a indented charter, dated at Mayland, 20 September 1402 and shown to the jurors.
The messuages, lands and tenements are worth £10 and held of the bishop of London , service unknown.
Canewdon, the manor called Scott’s, except all those lands, tenements, rents and services called ‘Crixhethehall alias le Brome’ in Canewdon, 16d. rent from lands and tenements called ‘Griggels’ in Canewdon, 2 marshes called ‘Ryngewerd’ and Gore lying in the same vill with 6 weirs and 6 leynes
, jointly with James Strangweys , John Fray , Richard Gosselyn , citizen and ‘ironmonger’ of London, Thomas Werysle, vicar of Canewdon church , and Richard Josep ’ of Sandon, who survive. They lately had [the manor] together with Richard Norton , Chief Justice of the King’s Bench, and Thomas Flemyng , deceased, by enfeoffment of William Totham , Robert Rikedon and others, to themselves and their heirs, paying yearly to William Totham for his life £30 13s. 4d., as is clear in an indented charter dated at Canewdon, 16 June 1417 and shown to the jurors.
The manor is worth 40s. yearly and held of John Terell , service unknown.
Bradwell on Sea and Woodham Mortimer in Dengie hundred, 2 messuages and 100 a. land in the vill[s]
, jointly with William Totham and Robert Pannan , who survive. They lately had these together with Robert Teye and Thomas Lopham , now deceased, by enfeoffment of Roger Fitzandrew , late citizen and fishmonger of London, and Thomas Oswaldkyrk, clerk , to themselves and their heirs, the tenement described as all those lands, tenements, rents and services in this vill, as above, which Roger and Thomas lately had together with Richard Fitzandrew , late citizen and fishmonger of London, and Adam Midlyng , now deceased, by enfeoffment of Christine Blunt , lately wife of John Blunt, knight , as is clear in a charter dated at Bradwell on Sea, 5 May 1413 and shown to the jurors.
The messuages and land are worth 10 marks yearly and held of Robert Hyham , service unknown.
Bradwell on Sea, 2 messuages and 100 a. land in the vill
, jointly with William Totham and William Grenehowe , who survive, by enfeoffment of Richard Moriell , to themselves and their heirs, the tenement described as 2 messuages with all lands and tenements which Richard had in the vill as is clear in a charter dated at Bradwell on Sea, 11 November 1399, and shown to the jurors.
The messuages and land are worth 5 marks yearly and held of John duke of Bedford , service unknown.
He held the following for life.
Tillingham, the manor of ‘Perie’
, by grant of John Barlyng , remainder to John Howard , Andrew Botiller , knights, William Clopton of Long Melford, William Galyon of Mildenhall, John Badwell of Boxford, William Prentys, rector of ?Lindsell church , and John Basset of Chishill, who survive, their heirs and assigns, as is clear in a charter to William dated at Tillingham, 20 June 1418 and shown to the jurors.
The manor is worth £10 yearly and held of the dean and chapter of St Paul’s, London , service unknown.
Rettendon in Chelmsford hundred, 2 messuages and 60 a. land called Bartletts
, by grant of John Pie of East Hanningfield, the tenement described as all land, tenements, rents and services called Bartletts as above, remainder to John Howard , Andrew Botiller , William Clopton , William Galyon , John Badwell of Boxted, William Prentys, vicar of ?Lindsell church , and John Basset of Chishill, who survive, their heirs and assigns, as is clear in a charter dated at Rettendon, 20 June 1418 to William and shown to the jurors.
The messuages and land are worth 5 marks yearly and held of the bishop of Ely, service unknown.

He died on 5 September 1426. Elizabeth, Katherine and Agnes are his daughters and next heirs, Elizabeth aged 4 years and more, Katherine 2 years and more, and Agnes 30 weeks and more.
