He held the manor of jointly with Margaret his wife, who survives, by enfeoffment of John Pakenham , Thomas Rastwold , John Wymbervyle, clerk , Peter Wylcombe n760_001 and John Josep by their indented deed shown to the jurors and dated 1 December 1409, to John and Margaret described [in French] as John Brewys , chevalier, of Sussex, and Margaret his wife and daughter of Thomas Ponynges, Lord de Seynt John , and his heirs by Margaret, remainder to himself and his heirs, the manor described as that which they lately had by gift and grant of the said John Brewys .He died on 3 December last. Beatrice lately wife of Hugh Shirley, chevalier , is his sister and next heir because he died without heir by Margaret, and is aged 60 years and more.
