William Fortho, esquire , 60 years and more, says that Thomas was 21 years old on 10 Feb. 1421, was born at Green's Norton on 10 Feb. 1400 and baptized in the font of the church of St. Laurence there on the same day. He knows because he was attending a swanimote on that day in `le logge' of the king's forest of Salcey with Thomas Grene , who told him and the others present that his wife had given birth to a fine son at dawn, for which he praised God. The other jurors say the same and know for the following reasons: Thomas Huntyngdon , 40 years and more, was also at the swanimote at 9.30 a.m. and saw John Chese, forester there, shoot with an arrow a large dog, which was worrying the king's beasts, and hang it from the branch of an oak in `le Broderydyng'. William Ardern , 60 years and more, was staying at the time of the birth with William Daventre, esquire , his kinsman, who gave him his inn called `Clyntons Inne' in Towcester by charter and put him into possession on 17 Feb. 1400. Nicholas Fauconer , 60 years and more, came to Green's Norton with a letter for Thomas Grene from the baroness of Dudley, lady of Aston le Walls . Thomas Stotesbury, esquire , 63 years and more, rode with his brother John Stotusbury to Chalcombe abbey to see his wife's brother Thomas Blysworth, one of the canons, made abbot on 12 Feb. 1400. John Sutton of Wood Burcote , 54 years and more, took two swans to Thomas Grene to be eaten. Thomas Heynes of Byfield , 47 years and more, had a son called Edmund buried on that day. John Scot of Caldecote , 60 years and more, had a son John born on 5 Feb. 1400. Thomas Josep of Towcester , 54 years and more, went with his servant John Tanner to the forest of Halse at 12.30 p.m. on 10 Feb. 1400 to discuss various business matters with Thomas Grene , who was very pleased that his wife had given birth to a fine son. John Shepherd of Hulcote and Adam Chete , both 64 years and more, bought a measure of peas for 5 marks from Thomas at Green's Norton on 20 Feb. 1400. John Wodestoke , 58 years and more, was living with John Harondon, esquire , and they, with other servants, rode to Green's Norton and took with him a great bream, a great tench and a great pike to eat with Thomas Grene on the Friday after the birth.
