870 Writ melius inquirendo 20 Nov. 1421. [Wymbyssh]. Teste John, duke of Bedford.

Refers to CIPM XX, no. 757. Inquire by whose grant Thomas Grene, knight, held 3 a. meadow in Kingston on Soar and 8s. 4d. rent there; 6d. rent in West Leake; 17s. 8d. rent in Stanford on Soar; 3s. 10d. rent in Sutton; 6s. rent in Bonington; 9 carrying works at ploughing from tenants in Ratcliffe on Soar; 9 carrying works there in autumn; a carrying work in Sutton and another in Bonington, of which he died seised in his demesne as of fee tail jointly with his wife Mary, who survives.

Thomas and Mary held the above land and rents to them and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to Thomas's right heirs, by grant of William Neweton, rector of Tugford , William Wenlocke of Shropshire, John Coke, rector of Green's Norton , and Robert Aleyn of Northamptonshire, as appears by a deed shown to the jurors.
