He held no other lands because his father William de Roos and his wife Margaret, who survives, were jointly seised in demesne as of fee tail of the manor of Bottesford, the advowson of the church and a chantry in it by grant of William de Rempston and William Berford ; a carucate and 100s. rent in Normanton which John's father William de Roos by fine of 1408-9 [not found] made with the king's licence [7 Nov. 1408: CPR 1408-13, p. 25] and shown to the escheator and jurors, granted for life to Simon Leek , William Babyngton and William Heton , who survive, and Thomas, archbishop of Canterbury , Robert Schropschyre and others, deceased; the castle and manor of Belvoir, reversion to William de Roos and his heirs.
