Holdings

He held the manor of Exhall in fee tail by a fine of 1340 [CP 25/1/287/40, no. 270] by which Hugh Bachelor, chaplain granted it to William le Botiller of Warrington and Elizabeth his wife, with successive remainders to Richard le Botiller and Joan his wife, and the heirs of their bodies; John brother of Richard and the heirs of his body and the right heirs of William. William and Elizabeth are dead. Richard and Joan died without heirs of their bodies. John entered and died holding it. He had issue the William named in the writ, and John.

The manor is held of the king in chief of the manor of Cheylesmore by the rent of a rose, annual value £10.

William named in the writ died without heirs of his body on 28 Sept. last. John his brother is next heir aged 23 years and more.

Holdings

He had held the manor of Cropwell Butler in fee tail and granted it to John his brother for life with reversion to himself and his heirs. John regranted it to William for 100 years rendering £20 yearly by equal parts at Lady Day and Michaelmas, with licence to distrain if in arrears. Thus William held it of the the duchy of Lancaster, service unknown, annual value nil beyond the rent.

He died on 26 Sept. last. John his brother is next heir.
