Holdings
James Daudeley , by the name of James Daudeley, lord of Red Castle and Heighley , granted to William Magot and Agnes then his wife by charter, dated at Nether Stowey on 8 Nov 1384 and shown to the jurors, the reversion of 2 cottages, 24 a. arable and 2 a. meadow in Cossington, described as all that he had acquired from Edmund Barry, chaplain , in Cossington, and which he formerly gave to Maud de Heyghworth for her life, to hold to them after her death for their lives, rendering a rose at Midsummer to James. Maud attorned to them. She died and they entered and held the premises.
Owing to the felony of William Magot the premises came into the hands of Richard II and are now in the present king’s hands, held of the heir of John Brent , service unknown, annual value 13s.4d.
He died on 3 May 1403. Alice wife of John Hoggekyns is his sister and heir, aged 32 years and more.
