Bamburgh, 1 messuage and 26 a. called ‘Straideland’ lying in the fields, from which it was the custom for the tenants to supply ploughshares at the castle of Bamburgh, and for which he renders 4s.6d. payable by the sheriff of Northumberland. They are held of the king by this service, annual value 10s. Also 3 burgages of the king in chief in free burgage at a rent of 4s., annual value nil these days because of destruction by the Scots.

They are held of the king in free burgage, rendering 2s. rent which is part of the £100 fee farm of Newcastle upon Tyne. Beyond the rents they are worth 36s. annually.
