Wark, the castle and manor, jointly with Joan his wife who survives, to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs, of the king in chief by knight service, annual value nil owing to destruction by the Scots.

Bamburgh, 1 messuage and 26 a. called ‘Straideland’ lying in the fields, from which it was the custom for the tenants to supply ploughshares at the castle of Bamburgh, and for which he renders 4s.6d. payable by the sheriff of Northumberland. They are held of the king by this service, annual value 10s. Also 3 burgages of the king in chief in free burgage at a rent of 4s., annual value nil these days because of destruction by the Scots.

Middleton, 3 vills by, in his demesne as of fee of Henry Percy, earl of Northumberland , of the barony of Beanley by knight service, a rent of 5 marks, the rent called ‘truncagium’, 39s.5 1/4d. for carting to Bamburgh castle, and 7s.6d. for the rent called ‘Cudbertferry’ on the Aln, payable by the sheriff, annual value nil for the same reason.

Doddington, the site of the manor, in his demesne as of fee of the same earl of the barony of Alnwick by knight service and a rent of 13s.4d. for the guard of the castle, annual value nil for the same reason.

Ewart, the manor, of the same earl and barony by knight service and a rent of 13s.4d. for castle guard, annual value nil.

Howick, the manor, of the same barony by knight service, annual value 20 marks.

Hawkhill, the manor, of the same barony by knight service, annual value 10 marks.

Alnwick, a messuage and lands in the fields, of the same earl by a rent of 12d., annual value 8s.

Reaveley, half the manor, of the heirs of Alan de Heton, knight , of the manor of Ingram by knight service, annual value nil for the same reason.

Earle, half the manor, of the duchy of Lancaster of the barony of Stamford by knight service, annual value nil for the same reason.

Hebron, the manor, of Richard Arundel, knight , of the barony of Muschamp by knight service, annual value nil for the same reason.

Pressen, certain lands, of the same knight and barony by knight service, annual value nil for the same reason.

Coldmartin, a third part of the manor, of John Folbur of the manor of Fowberry by knight service, annual value nil for the same reason.

‘Le Lofthe…’, 1 husbandland with two cottages with a place so-called, of Lord Darcy of the barony of Muschamp, annual value nil for the same reason.

Yeavering, 1 husbandland, of Richard de Arundel of the same barony in socage, annual value nil for the same reason.

Biddlestone, 3 husbandlands, of Lord Lowick in socage, annual value nil.

Kilham, 1 husbandland and cottage, of Richard Arundel of the manor of Kilham in socage by a rent of 2d., annual value nil.

He died on 25 Nov. last . Thomas Gray, knight , his son and heir, is aged 18 years and more.

He held in his demesne as of fee 4 tenements outside Pilgrim Street Gate; 2 tenements in Broad Chare; 1 tenement on Sandhill where Thomas Candeler lives; 1 tenement in ‘Nethirsyde’ in which Ellis Porter lives; 1 cellar under the tenement of John de Careton on the ‘Nethirflesshwerrawe’; 2 waste tenements in ‘Nere Marketyate’; 46s.8d. rent from the tenement of Sampson Hardyng in Pilgrim Street; 20s. rent from the tenement of John Caretone in the ‘Netherflesshwer Rawe’; 26s. rent from 2 tenements in Pandon held by William de Norham ; 6s.8d. rent from a tenement of the prior of Tynemouth in ‘Beremarketgate’ in which William Litster lives; and 6s.8d. rent from a tenement of William de Fulthorp, knight , in Skinner Gate.

They are held of the king in free burgage, rendering 2s. rent which is part of the £100 fee farm of Newcastle upon Tyne. Beyond the rents they are worth 36s. annually.

He died on 7 Dec. [Thursday after St. Andrew; no. 433 gives before St. Andrew]. Thomas Gray, knight , his son and heir, is aged 19 years.
