He died on 29 January last without heir of his body. John Delves is his brother and next heir, aged 23 and more.

He was seised of the following in demesne as of fee. n218
Bucknall, the manor, held of the king in chief as 1/20 knight’s fee. In the manor there is a site, worth nothing yearly; 200 a. land, each acre truly worth 1½d. yearly; 2 messuages, held at will, one truly worth 6s. 8d. yearly, the other worth 3s. 4d. yearly; and a water-mill, worth 3s. 4d. yearly. The manor is comprised of the above and of £4 6s. rent in Fenton Culvert (Fenton), with the homages of the tenants paying that rent, namely John Germayn, Thomas Browne , William Fenton , Roger Germayn , Roger Fenton , and John Smyth .
Newcastle-under-Lyme, 2s. 10d. rent payable by Hugh Grene for a burgage held of Richard ; with 8 other burgages held of Richard at will, each worth 12d. yearly, held of the king, of the manor of Newcastle-under-Lyme, of the duchy of Lancaster, in free burgage.
Betley, 4 messuages, 6 tofts, 20 a. land, 1 a. meadow, and 1 a. wood, held of James, lord Audley , service unknown. The premises are of no annual value, because John Delves, senior , Richard’s father, when he was seised of the same in demesne as of fee, granted therefrom to Maud Basset , who survives, an annual rent of £4 for the term of her life. The charter was shown to the jurors.
Chesterton, 4 messuages and 20 a. land, true annual value 22s., held of James, lord Audley , service unknown.
He was seised of the reversion of the following. His father, John Delves, senior – whose heir he was – was seised of the manors in demesne as of fee. By charter shown to the jurors, he feoffed therein Thomas Hunt, senior, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, and his heirs and assigns, so that he was seised in demesne as of fee. Thomas, by charter shown to the jurors, feoffed John Delves, senior , Edmund Basset , William Lee , now deceased, and Ralph Eggerton , who survives, and the heirs of the body of John, with remainder to the right heirs of John. John, Ralph, Edmund, and William were seised therein, and Ralph still is seised in demesne as of free tenement. The reversion pertains to John Delves, junior – brother and heir of Richard Delves , and son and heir of John Delves, senior – and his heirs.
