The jurors, separately examined, swear that she was born in the city of Norwich and baptized in the church of St Nicholas there, and that she is of full age and was aged 15 on 4 May last. They recall this for the following reasons. Thomas Hunte , aged 63 and more, was present at the baptism and held a ‘torche’. Nicholas Geggebald , aged 56 and more, married Isabel, who survives, on the same day. Henry Carleton , aged 48 and more, knows because on the same day there was such a great wind in the city that various houses fell to the ground. Ralph Stalon , aged 59 and more, gave water to Katherine’s godfather and godmothers for washing their hands immediately after the baptism. John Trewelove , aged 63 and more, knows because on the same day his horse threw him to the ground so violently that he broke his right arm. Simon Grene , aged 58 and more, was parish clerk of the church and held the book before the priest during the baptism. Thomas Draper , aged 53 and more, knows because his wife Alice gave birth to a son called Richard on the same day. John Lalleford , aged 55 and more, carried a laver before Katherine when she was borne to the church to be baptized. John Bacheler , aged 57 and more, carried two bowls (ollas) of silver to the church, full of red wine for Katherine’s godfather and godmothers and others present at the baptism to drink. Henry Crowmer , aged 66 and more, was present when lady Katherine Frevyll , Katherine’s godmother, gave her a gilded silver goblet straight after the baptism. Geoffrey Love , aged 67 and more, the same day was sent for Cecily Hervy of Wymondham, to wash and nurse Katherine. John Ryder , aged 53 and more, carried a torch before Katherine when she was borne to the church to be baptized. [Head:] Delivered to court on 10 December 1444.
