held of the abbot of Rocester , service unknown. He married Juliana, and had issue by her: John. After Juliana’s death he married Isabel, and had issue by her: John Blount of Deddington. He died seised of such estate of the above, which after his death were taken into the present king’s hand, where they remained until they were delivered to John Blount of Deddington, at his suit, and by colour of an inquisition taken at his instigation at Stafford before Humphrey Lowe [CIPM, XXII, 398]. The tenor of the inquisition was shown to the jurors, and its findings were as follows. Thomas Farnecote, late parson of the church of Neuton , and William Dilwyn, clerk , were lately seised of the above in demesne as of fee. By royal licence [CPR 1381–5, pp. 388–9] they granted the messuage, etc., in Balterley, Fenton Culvert, Ramshorn, and Biddulph, which were held of ‪ Richard II in chief as 1/10 knight’s fee, to John Blount, knight , and Isabel his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of John. As a result they were seised in demesne as of fee tail, and at his death John Blount, knight , held the messuage, etc., in demesne as of fee tail in the said form of the present king by the above service. Thomas and William granted the messuages, etc., in Denstone, Waterfall, and Ellastone to John and Isabel and the heirs of their bodies between them, so that they were seised in demesne as of fee tail. They had issue: John Blount of Deddington, then surviving, aged thirty and more. At his death John Blount, knight , held the messuages, etc., in demesne as of fee tail in the said form of the abbot of Rocester , service unknown. He died on 4 April 1425, and John Blount of Deddington was his next heir by virtue of the entail. In fact Thomas and William never had any estate in the above or any parcel thereof, nor did they grant the above or any parcel thereof to John and Isabel and the heirs of their bodies, as the inquisition found. John Blount of Deddington therefore died seised in demesne as of fee of all the above.

He died on 2 May last. Henry [sic] Blount is his son and next heir, aged 20 and more. John Blount , the son of John, the son of John Blount, knight and Juliana his first wife, is the kin and next heir of John Blount, knight , aged 30 and more.

[Head:] Delivered to court on 24 June 1443
