Holdings

He held no lands or tenements in demesne or service of the present king, or any other. Edmund Forde , Robert Banak, clerk , and John Prentys, parson of Iron Acton , were formerly seised in demesne as of fee of the manor of Hill and, by charter dated on 21 April 1412, shown to the jurors, granted it to Thomas Fitz Nicholl, chevalier , and Agnes his wife, now deceased, to hold to them and the heirs male of the body of Thomas, with successive remainders to Robert Poyntz , now deceased, and Katherine, then his wife, daughter of Thomas, she still living, to hold for their lives with remainder to Nicholas their son, and the heirs male of his body; to Thomas, their son, and the heirs male of his body; to Maurice, their son, and the heirs male of his body; to Blanche, Isabel, and Joan, their daughters, and the heirs male of their bodies; and to the right heirs of Thomas Fitz Nicholl. Royal licence was obtained [CPR 1408–13, p. 271]. By virtue of this grant, Thomas and Agnes as well as Robert and Katherine were seised. Thomas died without such heir [male] of his body.

Hill, the manor, held of the king in chief as 1/2 knight’s fee. There is the manorial site, worth nothing yearly; 4 carucates of land, each worth 40s. yearly; 40 a. meadow, each acre worth 3s. 4d. yearly; 100 a. pasture, each acre worth 8d. yearly; £8 13s. 4d. assize rent, payable at the four terms of the year, viz., Michaelmas, Christmas, Easter, and Midsummer, equally; and a park, worth nothing yearly above the parker’s fee.
Thomas Fitz Nicholl, chevalier, John Stanshawe , Thomas Lyndeseye , and Thomas Rudhull were seised in demesne as of fee of the following manors and advowson, which they granted by charter dated at Iron Acton on 20 March 1389, shown to the jurors, to Robert Poyntz , described as Robert Poyntz of Iron Acton, and Katherine, and the heirs male of the body of Robert. Robert and Katherine were thus seised, and Katherine is yet so seised.
Iron Acton, the manor and advowson of the church there, held of the earl of Stafford by knight service. There is the manorial site, worth nothing yearly. Acton Ilger, the manor, held of the heirs of Richard, late earl of Warwick. There is the manorial site, not built-upon, worth nothing yearly. In the two manors, there are 3 carucates of land, each worth 33s. 4d. yearly; 43 a. meadow, each acre worth 3s. yearly; 60 a. pasture, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 3 watermills, each worth 10s. yearly; a park, worth nothing yearly above the parker’s fee; and 100s. assize rent, payable at the said terms.

He died on 15 June 1439. Nicholas Poyntz is his son and next heir, and aged 40 and more.
