Holdings

He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief, or any other, in demesne or service. He was, however, lately seised in demesne as of fee of the manor of Wode iuxta Chixton and, thus seised, by charter shown to the jurors, he granted it to Thomas Knyfe , William Fauconer , Walter Portman , Walter Hassheford , Robert Ryvers , and John Crofte, clerk , and their heirs and assigns. A clause of guarantee was contained in the charter. The donees were thus seised in demesne as of fee, and are yet so seised.

Wode iuxta Chixton, the manor, annual value £4, held of the abbot of Sherborne as of his manor of Littleham, service unknown.

He died on 8 February last without heir of his body. Thomas Whalesburgh is his kin and next heir, viz., son of Joan sister of Simon, and aged 30 and more.

Holdings
He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief in demesne or service. Long before his death, however, he was seised in demesne as of fee of the following manors, lands, tenements, and advowsons and, thus seised, by charter shown to the jurors, he granted them to Thomas Knyfe , William Fauconer , Walter Portman , Walter Hassheford , Robert Ryvers , and John Crofte, clerk , and their heirs and assigns. He also bound him and his heirs to guarantee the manors etc. to the donees and their heirs and assigns. The donees were thus seised in demesne as of fee and Simon afterwards, by deed shown to the jurors, quitclaimed, for him and his heirs, all right that he had in the manors etc. A clause of guarantee was contained in the deed. Thomas, William, Walter, Walter, Robert, and John afterwards demised the manors etc. to Simon, to hold at the will of Thomas, William etc. [as above], and he was thus seised as tenant-at-will of Thomas, William etc. [as above]. He died seised of this estate and no other in the manors etc.
Nettlecombe and Rowdon, the manor, annual value £7, and advowson of the church of Nettlecombe, held of the heirs of Robert son of Payn, service unknown.
Woodadvent, the manor, annual value ?20s. [ms galled], held of Humphrey Stafford, knight, service unknown.

Womeslegh in the parish of Wootton Fitzpaine, 8 messuages, one toft, one watermill, 100 a. land, 18 a. meadow, 60 a. pasture, and 12 a. wood, annual value 26s. 8d., held of the heirs of Walter Esselegh as 1/10 knight’s fee for all service.
