He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief, or any other, in demesne or service but, long before his death, he was seised of the manors and advowsons of the churches of Gayhurst and Stoke Goldington in demesne as of fee. Thus seised, he granted the manors and advowsons by charter, dated at Gayhurst on 11 December 1435 and shown to the jurors, to Thomas Wideuyll , now deceased, and to William Tresham , Thomas Compeworth , John Loughton , and Richard Willoughby , esquires, still living, and their heirs and assigns. Royal licence was not obtained. The manors and advowsons were described as each and every of his manors, lands, tenements, rents, reversions, and services, with meadows, pastures, mills, waters, woods, wards, marriages, reliefs, heriots, escheats, courts, fines, amercements, customs, and liberties whatsoever that he had in Gayhurst and Stoke Goldington, together with the advowsons of the churches of Gayhurst and Stoke Goldington; and John was described as John Nevylle of Gayhurst, esquire . Thomas Wideuyll , William Tresham , Thomas Compeworth , John Loughton , and Richard were thus seised of the manors and advowsons in demesne as of fee for all of Thomas Wideuyll ’s life and, after his death, William, Thomas Compeworth , John, and Richard were seised in demesne as of fee by right of survivorship, and are still so seised.
Gayhurst, the manor and advowson, held of the king in chief by fealty for all services. There is the manorial site, worth nothing yearly as the houses there are ruinous; a close called ‘the Orchard’, worth 18d. yearly above enclosure; 60 a. arable, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 80 a. land, each acre worth 2d. and no more as lying fallow; 12 a. meadow, each acre worth 2s. yearly; 60 a. underwood that can be cut every 7 years, each acre worth 3s. 4d. when cut: 40 a. of which underwood will be worth nothing for the next 5 years because it was cut, sold, and carried away in 15 ‪ Henry VI [1 Sept. 1436 to 31 Aug. 1437], during John Nevylle ’s life, 15 a. of which underwood will be worth nothing for the next 6 years because it was cut, sold, and removed last year, before John’s death, and 5 a. of which underwood will be worth 15s. next year if cut, and then worth nothing for the next 6 years; a watermill, worth nothing yearly as wasted and destroyed; 12s. 3 1/2d. assize rent from free tenants; 45s. 8d. rent from tenants-at-will; 4 messuages, 2 virgates of land, and 2 tofts, formerly worth 26s. 8d. yearly and now worth nothing because the messuages are ruinous and wasted, the land and tofts lie fallow, and they are neither occupied nor leased.
Stoke Goldington, the manor and advowson, annual value 10 marks, held of Lord Clinton and Say , service unknown.

He died on 1 August last. Robert Nevylle is his brother and next heir, and aged 22 years and more.
