He held the following manor and bailiwick jointly with John Lone , his son, still living, by grant of Thomas Gryffyth, esquire , to Richard and John and the heirs and assigns of Richard. The grant was made by charter dated at Bentley on 27 April 1430, shown to the jurors, in which and manor and bailiwick were described as the manor of Bentley with the bailiwick of keeping the ‘hay’ of Bentley, with all reversions in Bentley and all easements and appurtenances in Staffordshire.
Bentley, the manor, with bailiwick of keeping the ‘hay’ of Bentley, held of the king in chief as 1/10 knight’s fee and by service of keeping the king’s ‘hay’ of Bentley. In the manor, there is a messuage and a watermill, worth nothing yearly; 240 a. land, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 20 a. meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 22 a. wood, worth nothing yearly; 6 a. moor, each acre worth 1d. yearly; and 7s. rent, payable at Easter and Michaelmas equally.
n029 The king pardoned Richard Lone and John his son by letters patent dated at Westminster on 18 May 1433 [CPR 1429–36, p. 268], in which they are described as Richard Lone of Hyde and John Lone , his son, for their offence in acquiring the manor and bailiwick from Thomas Gryffyth , and entering without royal licence. He held the following in demesne as of fee.
Hatton, 100 a. land, each acre worth 2d. yearly, held of the bishop of Coventry and Lichfield , service unknown.

He died on 12 January last. John Lone , his son and next heir, is aged 30 years and more.
