He was lately seised of the following messuages, toft, garden, land and rent in Coventry in demesne as of fee and of 20s. annual quit rent from land called ‘Horewodfeld’ there in demesne as of fee and right and of the reversion of 2 messuages and 2 virgates of land in Ashow. He died thus seised, as before alleged, without an heir on 14 September 1392, for which reason the messuages, toft, garden, land, rent and reversions, which were held of ‪ Richard II in chief, came into the king’s hand. Afterwards, ‪ Richard II granted the messuages, toft, garden, land, rent and reversions to Thomas Horne his varlet for life. Thomas died thus seised on 18 January 1394 and, subsequently, on 28 January 1397, the king granted the messuages, toft, garden, land, rent and reversions to Roger Jonderell for life and Roger was thus seised. The 20s. rent from land called ‘Horewodfeld’ and the messuages and virgates in Ashow were lately held by Hugh Kay of Coventry and Elizabeth his wife, now deceased, for the lifetime of Elizabeth as her dower from the free tenements of John Clyfford , lately her husband, by the assignment of William Clyfford , son and heir of John. Elizabeth died on 18 March 1411 and Roger died seised of the messuages, toft, garden, land and rent wholly in demesne as of free tenement on 16 February 1412, fee and right resting in the person of the current king for the reason before alleged. Immediately after the death of Roger Jonderell , William Dylcok of Coventry entered into the said messuages, toft, garden, land and rent and occupied them for 21 years. Immediately after his death, Edward Dylcok of Coventry entered into them and he still occupies them, viz., for two years together, right or title unknown.
Coventry, 6 messuages, a toft, an adjacent garden, a 12 a. piece of land called ‘Bromfeld’, 4 marks annual quit rent from a messuage in the street called ‘Smythfordestrete’ lately held by Thomas Bray , payable at Lady Day and Midsummer equally, annual value 10 marks, and
the reversion of 20s. annual quit rent from a 12 a. piece of land called ‘Horewodfeld’, payable as above,
held, with the messuages and virgates in Ashow [below], of the king in chief, service unknown.
Ashow, 2 messuages and 2 virgates of land, held as above.
John Hayward , now deceased, was lately seised of the following messuages, etc., in demesne as of fee, with which he enfeoffed William Tofte and Thomas Mariot and their heirs and assigns for the use and advantage of the church of Willoughby, to provide there a lamp with oil and wick, burning. William and Thomas have taken the profits from the messuages, etc., for the last three years and still take them.
Willoughby, a messuage; and
Kites Hardwick and Broadwell, a messuage and 20 a. land, annual value as above.,
annual value 26s. 8d.
He died on 14 September 1392, without an heir.
