MAUD WHO WAS WIFE OF JOHN, EARL OF ARUNDEL

Regarding lands that were taken into the king’s hand owing to the death of the late earl and the minority of Humphrey his son and heir. The king has commanded the abbot of Milton to take the oath from her [CClR 1435–41, pp. 1–2].

Assigned: Treveleigh, the forest or vill, in the lordship of Duparts, with attachments and perquisites of court and all emoluments and profits coming from the same; a chamber in Duparts castle, called the ‘chamber of King Richard’, with free entry and exit; the upper part of the bailiwick, lordship and hundred of Duparts; the vills of Blodwel Fawr and Blodwel Fechan, the dower assigned to Beatrice who was the wife of Thomas, lately earl of Arundel , in Blodwel Fechan excepted; the vills of Bryn, Sychtyn, Trefarclawdd, Trefonen, Weston Coton , Llanforda; the rent of Abertanat; the fields and meadows of Coed-y-go and the forest of Coed-y-gaer, the mills of Coed-y-go and Weston Coton excepted; and 1⁄3 granary situated on the site of Duparts castle. Assigned: a chamber below the chapel in Clun castle, with free entry and exit; the vill of Hudcote, 2 watermills in Clun and toll and prise of ale there; and the manor and lordship of Melverley in the March of Wales.
