Robert Swillyngton, knight , was lately seised of the following manor, etc., in demesne as of fee, of which he died seised. After his death, Roger Swillyngton, knight , entered and was seised in demesne as of fee as his son and heir. Afterwards, Roger gave it to William Leek, esquire , Thomas de Thornour and Simon Payn and their heirs and assigns, and they were thus seised in demesne as of fee. Thus seised, they gave it to John Swillyngton, knight , son of Roger and Joan his wife and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to Roger’s right heirs. By virtue of this, John and Joan were seised in demesne as of fee tail. John died thus seised without an heir of his body and Joan, who survived him, married John Bartram, knight , and John Bartram and Joan were seised in right of Joan in demesne as of fee tail after possibility of issue of Joan was extinct. In this way they were peacefully seised for a long time and for many years when they were unjustly and without judgement disseised and expelled by force and arms by Baldwin Bugge, esquire , who died seised by pretext of this disseisin and in no other way. From the time of the disseisin John and Joan, still living, continued to claim the manor from the possession of Baldwin for the whole of his life. Wigston,

the manor,
18 messuages, and 15 1/4 virgates of land,
annual value £10, and
11s. 8d., a rose, 1lb cumin and 2 capons rent,
held of the king as of the honour of Leicester, service unknown.

He died on 6 August last. Margaret, lately wife of William Turvyle , is his sister and next heir, aged 30 years and more.
