Holdings
Elizabeth, wife of Walter, was seised of the following manors in her demesne as of fee before she married him.
Breadstone, the manor, held of the king in chief as a knight’s fee. There is £6 16s. 8d. assize rent, payable by various free tenants at the four terms of the year, viz., the feast of St Thomas the Apostle, Lady Day, Midsummer and Michaelmas equally; 120 a. arable, worth 60s. yearly; 16 a. meadow, worth 16s. 8d. yearly; and 20 a. pasture, worth 13s. 4d. yearly.
Stinchcombe, the two manors there, held of Lord Berkeley as 1 1/2 knights’ fees. In one of the manors, there is £4 assize rent, payable by various free tenants at the four terms of the year, as above, equally; 200 a. arable, worth 50s. yearly; 16 a. meadow, worth 32s. yearly; 40 a. pasture, worth 20s. yearly; and 14 a. timber wood, its pasture worth 3s. yearly. In the other manor, there is 60s. assize rent, payable by various free tenants at the four terms of the year, as above, equally; 210 a. arable, worth 100s. yearly; 20 a. meadow, worth 40s. yearly; 30 a. pasture, worth 15s. yearly; and 14 a. wood, its pasture worth 4s. yearly.
Thus seised, she married Walter. They had issue: Margaret, and Elizabeth afterwards died. Walter survived her and held the manors by curtesy.
He died seised of that estate on 9 July 1434. Edmund Ingelthorp is kin and next heir of Walter as well as of Elizabeth, as the son of Margaret, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth. He is aged 14 years and more.
