Holdings

William Frye , Ralph Walysh , John Fauntleroy of Dorset, Robert Rempston of Godlingston, Robert Colyngbourne, parson of Langton Long Blandford church , and William Bret, chaplain , were lately seised in their demesne as of fee of

the manor of Langton Long Blandford alias ‘Langeton Botyler’ with the advowson of Langton Long Blandford church. The manor and advowson are held of the king in socage by service of 1d. at Easter to the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff for all service.
By their indented charter dated at Langton Long Blandford on 2 May 1421, and shown to the jurors, they granted these among other things to Michaela who was the wife of Robert Derby , lately son and heir of Stephen Derby, knight , and to Robert’s heirs by Michaela, successive remainders after her death if Robert die without such heirs, to the following: Walter Derby named in the writ – described as Walter, son of Walter Derby – nephew of Robert, and the heirs of his body; William his brother and the heirs of his body; Margaret, lately wife of Morgan Gough and sister of Robert, who survives, and the heirs of her body; Thomas, son and heir of Roger Gulden of Sixpenny Handley, and kinsman of Robert and the heirs of his body; Joan, sister of Thomas and the heirs of her body; and the right heirs of Robert on the side of Amice his mother, lately daughter and heir of Alan Gulden, knight . Michaela was seised in her demesne as of free tenement and died seised of this estate without heir by Robert. Walter entered the manor by virtue of the remainder and died seised of the manor and advowson in his demesne as of fee tail without heir of his body. William his brother predeceased him without heir of his body. The manor and advowson belong of right to Margaret.

He died on 19 October last. Margaret is his aunt and next heir as sister of Walter his father, aged 40 years and more.
