John Baldryche was formerly seised of the following in demesne as of fee.
Seavington-Vaus, the manor, held of Lord Zouche as of his manor of Castle Cary in socage by rendering 1d. yearly at Michaelmas for all services. There is the site, worth... yearly; 110 a. arable, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 15 a. meadow, each acre worth 20d. yearly;4 a. wood, each acre of ground worth 2d. yearly; and £10 assize rent taken from tenants-at-will, payable at the four principal terms by equal parts.
He gave the manor to John Strecche, chevalier , and Maud his wife, and to the heirs of their bodies. They had issue: Cecily. John died then Maud, and Cecily entered the manor as their daughter and heir. She married William Cheyne, knight , and they had issue: Edmund. Edmund had issue of his body: Elizabeth, Anne, and Cecily. Edmund died, and Cecily was still seised of the manor as above. After her death, the manor descended to Elizabeth, Anne, and Cecily, her kin and heirs as the daughters of Edmund her son. John Radeston , John Raynald, parson of Lymington , Henry Andreu, parson of Leweston , Roger Carter, parson of Wootton Fitzpaine , John Passewar, parson of Over Compton, John Humfre, vicar of Chewton Mendip , Nicholas Yve of West Kington, Andrew Ridon , William Walsh , John Preste , William Longe of Axminster, Henry Wotton , Thomas Brokhampton , Thomas Saundre , and William Lange , were lately seised in demesne as of fee of the following manor, which they lately had of the enfeoffment of Lord William de Monte Acuto, earl of Salisbury , and William Boneville, knight .
Thurlbear, the manor, held of the king in chief as ¼ knight’s fee. There is the site, worth nothing yearly; 500 a. arable, each acre worth 3d. yearly; 46 a. meadow, each acre worth 16d.; 120 a. wood, its pasture worth 10s. yearly; 14s. assize rent, taken from tenants-at-will at the four principal terms of the year by equal parts; and perquisites of court, worth 6s. 8d. yearly.
They granted it to William Boneville and Margaret his wife for their lives, or either one in survivorship, to hold of the king and his heirs by due service, with successive remainders to Thomas their son and Cecily his wife [widow of William Cheyne], and to the heirs male of the body of Thomas; and to the right heirs of William Boneville . The grant was made by indented charter dated 29 August 1392. The king’s licence was obtained, as shown to the jurors [CPR 1391–1396, p. 54]. William afterwards died, then Margaret, and Thomas their son and Cecily entered the manor. Thomas afterwards died without heir male of his body by Cecily. She survived him and continued her possession in the manor. She died so seised and the manor descended to William Boneville, knight , son of John Boneville , kin and heir of William Boneville, knight , as son of John son and heir of William Boneville, knight . ... of age 36 years and more...
She died on 18 October last. Elizabeth, Anne, and Cecily, daughters of Edmund her son, are her kin and next heirs, and respectively aged 7, 5 and 2 years.

There is the site, worth nothing yearly; £4 4s. ¼d. and one gilly-flower assize rent, levied yearly on free tenants at the following feasts: Martinmas (17s. 9d.), Andrew (15s. 1½d.), Botulph (38s. 4¾d., with one gilly-flower every other year), Assumption (10s. 9d.), and Michaelmas (2s.); 28 messuages with 28 bovates, each messuage with bovate worth 8s. yearly; 8 cottages, each worth 2s. yearly; 200 a. arable, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 180 a. meadow, each acre worth 8d. yearly; 80 a. pasture, each acre worth 10d. yearly; agistment of the same pasture called ‘Cornfen’, commonly worth 20s. yearly; a water-mill, worth 6s. 8d. yearly; a fulling-mill, worth 5s. yearly; a crop of underwood with certain alders, worth 20s. yearly; and perquisites of court, commonly worth 6s. yearly.
She held advowson of the church of Tothill, worth 100s. yearly.
Carleton , a croft-pasture that contains 40 a. pasture, worth 16s. yearly, held of the heirs of William Perte , by 10½d. rent.
Date of death and identity of heirs as 503, except their ages. Elizabeth Cheyne is aged 8 and more, Cecily is aged 4 and more, and Anne is aged 3 and more. They are also described as the next heirs of William.

He gave and granted it to Robert Assheley , John Chapman , and William Harewode , chaplain, and to their heirs in perpetuity. They were thus seised in demesne as of fee, and continued to be so seised until the day of this inquisition. They permitted Cecily to occupy the moiety at their will.

She held no lands or tenements of the king in chief as of his crown in demesne or service. She was seised of the manor of Littlehempston in demesne as of fee and granted the following to William Wenarde, still living, for life, without rendering anything, with reversion to Cecily and her heirs.
Littlehempston, a messuage and a carucate of land, worth 20s. yearly, and 6 a. meadow, each acre worth 8d. yearly, parcel of the same manor.
The grant was made by indented charter dated 1 January 1422 in which the messuage, land etc. are described as all her lands and tenements, rents, and services in Youngcombe in the parish of West Alvington by Kingsbridge, lately held by John Prestecote , Margery his wife, and Walter son of Margery, for their lives by grant of John Strecche, knight , her father. The charter was shown to the jurors.
Littlehempston. Apart from the messuage, land, and meadow, there is a capital messuage in the manor, worth nothing yearly; a dovecot, worth 6d. yearly; a garden, worth 12d. yearly, a carucate, worth 40s. yearly; 3 ferlings of land, each worth 6s. 8d. yearly; 3 a. meadow, each acre worth 18d. yearly; 4 a. wood, worth nothing yearly; and 21s. assize rent taken from free tenants and £3 rent taken from tenants-at-will, payable at Easter and Michaelmas by equal parts.
She died seised of the rest of the manor in demesne as of fee, and seised of the reversion of the messuage, land, and meadow as of fee and by right. The ferlings of land are held of Edward de la Pomeray by 6d. rent for all services. The rest of the manor is held of the king as of his duchy of Cornwall as of his castle of Launceston in socage by 50s. rent yearly for all services. She was seised of the following in demesne as of fee.
Pinhoe, the manor, held of Thomas Courtenay, earl of Devon , a minor in the wardship of the king, held in socage by rent of three arrows yearly for all services.
She granted it to John Cheyne , her son, and to his heirs and assigns in perpetuity, to hold by rendering £25 sterling yearly to Cecily for her life at the four usual terms of the year. The grant was made by indented charter dated at Brook, in Wiltshire in the parish of Westbury, 2 August 1430. The charter was shown to the jurors.
