ISABEL WIDOW OF JOHN CAWOD OF CAWOOD

Holdings
She held the following conjointly with John Cawod , her late husband, by enfeoffment of William de Neuton, chaplain , and John de Thwayt , ‘wever’, for life. Royal licence was obtained and shown to the jurors.
Cawood, 2 messuages, 14 a. land, and 2 a. meadow, held of the king in chief, as parcel of a third of the vill of Cawood, by keeping the royal forest between the Ouse and the Derwent.
After the death of John and Isabel, 2 messuages, 1 a. land, and 1 a. meadow, were to remain to the right heirs of John Cawod ; and the remaining 13 a. land and 1 a. meadow were to remain to Thomas Aunger and Alice his wife, and to the heirs of their bodies with remainder to the right heirs of John Cawod in perpetuity. With Isabel now deceased, the
2 messuages, worth nothing yearly because ruinous and tumbledown, 1 a. land, and 1 a. meadow, worth 14d. yearly,
should remain to Peter Cawod , kin and heir of John Cawod as the son of John son of John. Peter is aged 30 and more. Likewise, the
13 a. land and 1 a. meadow, annual value 8s. 10d.,
should remain to Roger Aunger son and next heir of Thomas Aunger and Alice. Roger is aged 28 years. She held the following in dower from the inheritance of Peter.
Cawood, 10 cottages, worth nothing yearly, and 5 a. land and 1 a. meadow, worth 3s. yearly, held of the king in chief.
She died on 13 November last. The identity of her next heir is unknown.
