Richard Baker , 60 and more, swears that Humphrey was born at Cossall on 1 June 1406, baptised in the church of Wollaton on the same day, and was 21 and more on 2 June last. Asked how he knows, he says that he was enfeoffed by Robert Grene with one bovate in Awsworth on the day that Humphrey was born and baptised. Robert Smyth , 70 and more, says that John his son fell from a chamber and broke his shin on the day that Humphrey was born and baptised. John Worthyngton , 70 and more, says that Joan his first-born daughter married John Nutte . John Smyth , 60 and more, says that Adam his first-born son was born. John Robert , 64 and more, brought the chrismatory to the font at the same time as Humphrey’s baptism. Richard Risshall , 70 and more, saw Humphrey urinating in the font at his baptism. William Othe Helde , 76 and more, says that William his son was arrested in Sherwood forest for hunting, and imprisoned in Nottingham castle. Ralph de Brygge , 80 and more, says that the best ox he ever had fell into a ‘Colepytte’ and broke its neck. Henry Mayre , 60 and more, saw Felice Armestronge give a silver cup to Humphrey at the baptism. William Warde , 60 and more, lost 20 marks at the metes. Robert Stanley , 58 and more, carried Humphrey in his arms from Cossall to the church. Thomas Clerk , 60 and more, saw Humphrey Haloghton , who raised Humphrey from the font, give him one noble of gold at the baptism.
