JOHN JARDYN SON OF THOMAS JARDYN

Regarding lands and tenements held by knight service of the heir of Thomas, late earl marshal . The heir was a minor in the wardship of Henry IV .

Holdings

Owing to the death of Thomas Jardyn and the minority of John, the following came to the hands of Henry IV then those of Henry V, and is still in the king’s hands.

South Mundham and Bowley, the manor, held of John, duke of Norfolk , as ½ knight’s fee and rendering 100s. yearly at Christmas, Lady Day, Midsummer, and Michaelmas by equal parts. Its true annual value is 60s. above the rent of 100s. and £8 assigned in dower after the death of Thomas to Joan his widow. She took this rent for life and died on 31 October last. The duke of Norfolk holds the manor as of the archbishop of Canterbury as of the archbishopric, by the same service.

John Jardyn died on 6 May 1426. Beatrice wife of James Knottesford and Margaret wife of John Sopere are his sisters and next heirs. They are aged, respectively, 40 and more, and 21 and more.

John Jardyn died on 6 May 1426.

From 6 May 1426 until 29 September 1427, Philip Gilmyn occupied the manor and took its issues. From 29 September until 25 February 1428, Anne widow of John Jardyn took the issues.

Beatrice wife of James Knottesford and Margaret wife of John Sopere are his sisters and next heirs. They are aged, respectively, 40 and more, and 21 and more.
