JOHN SHIREWODE

Writ Head

20 Writ mandamus . ‡ 19 July 1427. [Wymbyssh].

Regarding lands and tenements held of the king in chief. He held by knight service of Thomas son and heir of Alexander Metham, chevalier . Thomas was lately a minor in the king’s wardship.

held of Thomas Metham , son and heir of Alexander Metham, knight , by knight service.
Selby, a messuage, annual value 6s., held of the abbot of Selby , service unknown.
He held the following to him and the heirs of his body.
Eggborough, a messuage, 20 a. land, and 4 a. meadow, annual value 10s., held of Thomas Metham , by knight service.

He died on 14 September 1422 when Thomas Metham was a minor in the wardship of the king. Elizabeth Shirewode is his daughter and next heir, and aged 13 and more.

Henry Shirewode , John Shirewode , Richard Shirewode , and James Shirewode have occupied the lands and tenements since then and taken the issues.
